
Fifty Seven Moons was a glow-in-the-dark street art installation created in December, 2013. It was a mural collaboration with YWCA Geelong.
According to Lauras Facebook:
The mural celebrates the empowerment of the feminine, and in solidarity with the ‘Reclaim the Night’ movement – in the hope of making the night a safe place for women all over the world.
Women and girls wrote messages of empowerment in the moons that surrounded my ‘divine feminine’ image.
The ‘Hamsa’ hand that accompanies the image is an ancient symbol that can be found relating to many mystical aspects of the ancient theistic religions (Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity) in the context of the hand of the divine feminine, offering protection.
